What makes a good science fair project?

Want some general advice about what makes a good science fair project? Click here for just that!

Writing a Report

The project report is one of the most important parts of your science fair project. It should tell people what your project was about, the type of experiments performed, and your results. To give yourself a head start, check out this website.

What Should I do For a Science Fair Project?

Have a discussion with your mentor about ideas you have for your science fair project. Does she have any suggestions to help you narrow down your choice of projects? Did she do any cool science fair projects when she was in school? Check out the pages at Try Science for ideas, or the pages at Science Buddies for a great science fair topic wizard.

Help With a Science Fair Project in Progress

Mentee: Share your hypothesis and science fair project ideas with your mentor. Tell her about what you plan to study or test for your project. If you are not doing a science fair project ask your mentor to describe what she does in 10 words or less….see if she can actually do it!
Mentor: Ask your mentee about her science fair project. What is her hypothesis? Does it make sense? Encourage her and suggest some ways to improve her scientific process (if necessary).
